Thank you Governor Haley for proclaiming September 2013 as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and encouraging all South Carolinians to increase awareness of ovarian cancer and promote continued research into the causes of and a cure for this disease. When Alicia contacted the Governor's office last July it was too late to make it happen in 2012 but she was assured Gov. Haley wanted to be involved and would work with us this year. We are honored and thrilled with Governor Haley's support. Awareness increases the possibility of early detection - and we know early detection saves lives. Thank you, Governor Haley ~ and thank you, Alicia. What a way to bring in September 2013!
Researched the State of South Carolina's website - the last Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month proclamation signed in South Carolina was in 2007, which was the year Gail passed after her 3 1/2 month battle with ovarian cancer. Very thankful Governor Haley is bringing much needed awareness to this horrible disease. - Debbie, Gail's mom
